Turkish government deports Nigerian students

Turkish government earlier this year, demanded that Nigerian government shuts down all schools owned by or affiliated to Gulen fethullah hizmet. It is believed that Gulen, who is Turkey's president's greatest rival masterminded the botched coup of July 15.  In a bid to get Gulen to his knees, the Turkish government sort the help of the Nigerian government and was turned down. President Erdogan of Turkey, in retaliation, has commenced the deportation of Nigerian students resident in Turkey. So far 50 students have been deported....

Edo governorship election: calls for cancellation

There has been calls for the total cancellation and re-run of the gubernatorial elections held recently in Edo state. Five governorship candidates of participating political parties have aired their dissatisfaction with the results declared by INEC. 

They stressed that the results announced by INEC where in complete contrast with what was collated from the polling unit and INEC falsified the final results. The candidates calling for cancellation are Frank Ukonga of new Nigeria's People Party (NNPP), Andrew Igwemoh of the Advanced Congress of Democrats (ACD), Doctor Omorogieva Gbajumoh of the Social Democrat Party (SDP), Mr. Thompson Osadolor of the KOWA party and Ishaka Paul of the action alliance.

The Amber Rose slutwalk, an intiative of former stripper, Amber Rose, held October 1, at Pershin square DTLA, Los Angeles Carlifornia. This was put togther by the Amber Rose foundation to promote women empowerment and raise awareness about rape, sexual violence, derogatory labels and gender inequality. 

The event saw thousands of people from different walks of life coming together to have fun while speaking and holding up placards against rape and other form of  derogatory activities against women.  

Black Chyna, the pregnant fiancee of Rob Kardashian was also present at the event to support her girl, Amber Rose. It was a funfilled atmosphere with music and dance. Amber at some point couldn't help dropping a tear or two.

Kumuyi says recession will not last.

Overseer of the Deeper Life Bible Churh, Pastor Williams Kumuyi has called on Nigerians not to despair as the present state of the economy will soon be a thing of the past. he gave the sermon at the Night of Supernatural Wonders Programme held on Friday in Abuja.

He expressly stated that Nigeria is going through a wilderness which will soon be replaced with miracles. Urging individuals and the nation at large to turn to God, he called for general confessions  inorder for the people to be on the side of Christ.

Martins  Ndubuigo has died after a prolonged battle with liver disease. Martins was probably the oldest actor in the Nigerian film industry. In may, his colleagues launched an appeal to raise a million naira for his treatment which was later donated by a popular Abuja-based pastor.

Till his death, he was a regular face in the Nigerian movies and well known for his chief priest role. 

May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace, amen.

CBN Governor thanks the president and security agents for aiding his wifes release

Godwin Emefiele expressed profound gratitude to Oga Buhari and armed officers for the safe return of his wife in less than 24hours after she was abducted. According to the CBN boss, his wife was released on Friday night. He vowed to continue in public service to the country with out fear of intimidation.
hmmm..... Talk about town (tat) says a ransom was quickly wired to the abductors in order to get her out. loll, i guess Oga Godwin won't add that part.

How come her release was that fast? People get abducted in Nigeria for days or weeks before they are released, sometimes killed. The same police and soldiers will go looking for them and find no trace...what was different about Mrs Emefiele s kidnapp....I guess some cows are sacred....just thinking aloud tho

Three top judges sacked!

The National Judicial Council has called for three judges to be relieved of their duties due to judicial misconduct. The judges include Chief Judge of Enugu State A. I. Umezulike, presiding judge of the court of appeal Kwara State Mohammed Tsamiya and Kabiru Auta of Kano state high court

They were sent on compulsory retirement during the council's 78th meeting held on september 29.

Mark Zuckerberg fufils his promise to nigeria

Mark Zuckerberg , Facebook founder, announced on Friday that Hausa, Fulani and two other languages have been added to the social media platform thereby making the platform more user-friendly. During his recent visit to Nigeria, he expressly stated that the Hausa language will be added to the social platform.
In his words "Facebook is now available in more than 100 languages - with more than one billion people using it in a language other than English. Today, we added Fula, Maltese and Corsican.
Our community makes this possible. Over the last decade, hundreds of thousands of people around the world have worked together to find the right translations for words and phrases in the Facebook interface. Because the idea of a 'like' in English may mean something different in Arabic or Japanese.
For people to share what matters to them and see what matters to the people they care about, they need the services available in a language they know. Some of the languages we've
added don't have meaningful presence on the internet".
Others like Corsican are in danger of disappearing altogether  according to UNESCO.
Facebook is now available in 100 languages.

Independence day, Nigerian students protest

Nigerian students will converge under the umbrella of Alliance of Nigerian students against neo-liberal attack to stage a massive protest in Lagos today being independence day.
The students want to air their grievances against the numerous attacks waged on them and their wards, the lack of funds for education, high life styles and extravagant salaries of government officials which takes a larger share of the budget than education and diversion of funds meant for education.
The protest is expected to kick off this morning from Ikeja under-bridge.

Suspected explosion at Warri refinery

A big bang around was heard yesterday around the Warri refinery in what is suspected to be a foiled attack by militant on oil facilities in the area. Thankfully, the Warri refinery was not affected and operations have not halted.

This is coming on the heels of several attacks by militants of the Niger Delta on crude oil production facilities that has drastically reduced the production output of the country.

Magaret Emefiele, wife of CBN Governor kidnapped.

In the wee hours of  yesterday, the wife of the present governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria was yesterday abducted by gunmen along the Benin-Agbor road. Her driver and four other women with whom she traveled were also reportedly kidnapped. It is alleged that the kidnappers have contated the family demanding a 100 million naira ransom in exchange of the victims.
Troops of armed soldiers and police men have been deployed into the forests along the Benin-Agbor road in a bid to track down the abductors.
God be with her wherever she is.
