Mr. Godwin Obaseki emerges Governor of Edo State


Mr. Godwin Obaseki of the All Progressive Congress has been declared winner of the gubernatorial elections in Edo state. Mr. Obaseki garnered 319,483 votes, while his arch rival Mr. Osagie Ize-iyamu polled 253,173 votes. INEC's returning officer Prof. Kayode Soremekun declared the APC candidate winner having met all conditions stipulated to emerge as Governor of Edo State
Earlier in the day, Philip Shaibu, Obaseki's running mate created a scene at the INEC office in Etsakor West Local Government Area calling for cancellation of the election results. He claimed some collation officers were working hand in hand with PDP to overturn the election results and proclaim the PDP candidates winner of the governorship race.
