Senate calls for serious actions against earth quake in Nigeria



The senate has called on all government authorities and environmental agencies in Nigeria to take drastic measures to avoid the occurrence of a major earthquake following the recent earth tremors in Kwoi community, Kaduna.
The inhabitants of Kwoi community who fled their home when the earth tremor occured are now returning to their farms and businesses. Nigerians witnessed earth tremors in 1933, 1939,1964,1984, 1990, 1994,1997, 2000 and 2006. According to research gate, the intensities of this tremor ranged from  111 to IV based on the modified mercalli intensity scale.
Experts claim that Nigeria is not loated along the seismic zones of the world, she stands the risk of witnessing an increased frequency of earth tremors or severe earthquake and calls for all hands to be on deck to prevent such devastating occurence
