The young man, who was later identified as Bayo Lawal leaped into a river in Festac town, Lagos. Before committing suicide, Bayo was an Industrial and Applied Chemistry graduate in Unilorin, Kwara State.
According to eye witness, Bayo first laid on the ground at Mobil Filling Station. He was with friends who tried to get him up while finding out what the issue was with him. Bayo then stood up and walked briskly towards the bridge then broke into a run towards the bridge. His friends chased after him but before they could get to him, he took a leap into the canal.
The tweets he put up shortly before the sad incident showed that Bayo was going through psychological struggles.
