Effective from January 1, 2017, the Federal Government of Nigeria has issued a prohibition order banning all importation of new and used cars through the land borders. The statement which was made public yesterday by the Nigerian Custom Service went further to establish that car importation will henceforth be from the sea ports.
Importers were therefore advised to utilise the grace period to clear already bought cars from neighbouring land imports.
In a forum of the automotive industry on Friday, the federal government disclosed that it will make the presentation of road worthiness certificate of vehicles from their countries of origin very mandatory.
Bye to cotonou business.
