James Ibori, former Governor of Delta State has been released from the United Kingdom prison where he spent four years and eight months. Before his detention, Ibori was a key member of the PDP and served as Governor from 1999-2007.
In Febuary 2012, Ibori was accused of stealing $250m from the Delta State coffers. He was slammed a 13-year jail term on Tuesday April 17, 2012 by the Southwark Crown Court after pleading guilty to ten counts of money laundering totalling £50m and conspiracy to defraud.
Following the news of his release, Asaba town went into jubilation as the youths rolled out their drums to celebrate the ex-governor's release. Ibori popularly called 'odidigborogbo' is expected home any time soon.
