MTN pays N80bn out of the N330bn fine imposed for failing to deactivate unregistered sim cards.


MTN Nigeria has paid the sum of eighty billion naira from the three hundred and thirty billion naira imposed on them by the federal government for failing to deactivate five million unregistered sim cards. MTN was initially fined N1.04 trillion at the rate of N200,000 for each sim card. the amount was later reduced to N330bn after consideration of several factors bothering on international investments and jobs created ny MTN foe Nigeria.
Mr. Adebayo Shittu, Minister of Communications confirmed payment of the first instalment and are to spread payment over a three year period.
