A man confirmed to be a quack doctor named Jonathan Sidi-Ibrahim has been arrested after he infected a 6-year-old Emmanuel Alaku. The patient needed blood and was taken to Jonathan's clinic at Iwashi Dogo of Sarking Dawaki ward, Doma Local Government area of Nasarawa State.
The patient was said to have been injected with unscreened blood. Jonathan, on his arrest by NSCDC officials, confessed to being an unqualified doctor running a quack unlicensed clinic where he performed surgeries using unsterilised items since 2015, after he graduated from School of Health, Keffi.
Confirming the incident, the Nasarawa state commandant, Mr Lawal said “The suspect was arrested for operating an unregistered, illegal clinic known as Abrason Destiny Clinic. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, in 2015, transfused unscreened and infected blood into an unsuspecting patient and in the process caused the patient to be infected with HIV.”
The boy's father Mr. Sylvester Alaku blamed his wife for taking their son to the quack clinic when he fell ill.
