Hon. Nze Chidi Duru has been arraigned before a Chief Magistrate Court in Lagos alongside a senior lawyer, Mr. Smart Iheazor.
Honourable Duru was accused of invading the head office of the First Guarantee Pension Limited inorder to forcefully take over the management and assets of the Pension Fund Administrator. They were charged with four counts bothering on conspiracy, stealing, breach of peace and impersonation.

Duru and Iheazor were also accused to taking away valuable company properties from the premises located at No. 65, Kudirat Abiola Way, Oregun, Ikeja in Lagos . Both have however, pleaded not guilty.
Chidi Duru was said to have been bundled out of the hospital where he was receiving treatment by police men and taken to court on Monday morning, 16, January, 2016. His lawyer, Emeka Etiaba (SAN) informed the court that his client, Duru was sat the point of slumping due to frail health. The prosecutor however objected stating that the doctor at the hospital where Chief Duru was admitted certified him fit to appear in court and ordered the defendants to take their plea.
Thereafter, counsel to the defendants urged the court to grant the accused bail on self-recognition noting that both were senior lawyers with 28 years at bar, while Duru is a former member of the House of Representatives. He added that their offences were bailable.The prosecutor, however, objected to the bail on self-recognition insisting that they should be given sureties as they reside in Abuja, not Lagos. The magistrate granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 each with one surety each in like sum.The matter was adjourned till March 9, 2017 for trial. Duru was arrested and detained by the police on January 13, 2017 for the alleged offences.
