Pastor Adeboye bags doctorate degree from UNN 50 years after dropping out of same school.

General Overseer of the Redeem Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye was, on Tuesday, conferred with an honorary doctorate degree (Doctor of Divinity) by the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

The famous Pastor who was recently in the news for passing church leadership to another expressed immense joy for the award conferred on him. Adeboye recalled the time he got admission to study at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 1963 after going on an excursion of the university in 1962. He also cracked jokes about seeing students on campus eating jellof rice and chicken which endeared him to the university.
The reverend said he picked a pebble and asked God to grant him admission into the university. His prayers were promptly answered as he became a student of his dream university in 1963. Unfortunately, Adeboye left UNN in 1966 without graduating. 50 years later, Adeboye got a doctorate degree from same university.
" I left UNN in 1966 without a degree. Fifty years later, I have gotten a degree from UNN, now not a first degree but a doctorate degree. That is why i feel elated. I am overwhelmed" he said
Amongst the dignitaries that graced the event were the UNN Vice-chancellor, Prof Benjamin Ozumba  and Enugu State governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi .
Adeboye's conferment was part of the activities to mark the 46th convocation of the university.
