RCCG clears the air over Adeboye's retirement.

Overseer of the Redeem christian church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, yesterday, announced a new leader in the person of Pastor Joseph Obayemi for the Nigeria arm of the church. Reliable sources in the ministry reiterated that Pastor Adeboye remained the overall overseer of the church worldwide and only appointed one of his aids to efficiently oversee the running of the Nigeria arm of the church.
According to punch newspapers, political interference in the activities of Nigerian churches prompted the appointment made by Adeboye. Government of Nigeria has stipulated a mandatory 20-year office tenure for all registered churches' overseers and founders in the country. Hence, church overseers who have served over 20 years or above 70 years of age are to relinquish some duties in line with the new code of conduct imposed by the government.
