University of Ibadan ranked among top 25 universities in Africa.




University of Ibadan in Nigeria, alongside 24 top universities in Africa, have featured in the Times Higher Education’s World University Rankings 2016-2017.

The university was the only one in Nigeria that made the list of top 25 Universities in Africa.According to Times Higher Education, the best universities in Africa span nine countries, from Uganda in the east to Nigeria in the west, Morocco in the north to South Africa in the south of the continent.It was gathered that 13 different indicators, measuring from teaching, research, research impact, innovation and international outlook were used to rank the universities.
Two of South Africa’s universities appear in the top 200 of the worldwide rankings; the University of Cape Town is Africa’s top university at position 148, and Wits University is ranked at position 182, beating many prestigious universities in Germany, the UK, Canada, the US and Hong Kong.Overall, Egypt and South Africa are the two best represented African countries in the ranking, with eight universities each.But South Africa and Uganda are the only two countries with universities in the top 500.

The University of Ibadan in Oyo state ranks at number 801 in the world.
