Gambia has a new vice-president in the person of Fatoumata Tambajang. Her appointment was made public by Halifa Sallah, the Spokesperson of President Adama Barrow at a press conference in Banjul.
Born in on October 22 1949 in Brikama, Tambajang played a great role in uniting opposition members to defeat the former dictator Yahya Jammeh in the December 2016 presidential election.She was a former adviser on women and children affairs to the first Gambian President, Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara and was awarded Gambia’s highest national citizen award by him. She also has chaired the Gambia National Women’s Council.
