Pastor Adeboye retires as Overseer of RCCG.

Pastor and General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God has stepped down as head of the church.
Adeboye named Pastor J. O. Obayemi as his successor. This happened at the Annual Ministers thanksgiving at Shimawa  in Ogun State.

Pastor Adeboye stepped down for reasons bothering on health and age. Just two months from his 75th birthday, Pastor Adeboye felt the need to transfer the affairs of the church to a younger, more active individual.
Pastor Adeboye took over the leadership of RCCG in 1981 after the death of the original overseer and founder, Papa Akindayomi. He joined the church in 1973 and translated the teachings of Pa Akindayomi from yoruba to English.
