18 inmates at the Kirikiri Maximum Prison have been granted freedom on the prerogative of mercy by the Lagos State Advisory Council. The order was handed over to the Nigerian Prison Service through the State's Controller of Prisons, Olatunbosun Ladipo.
The inmates, comprising of 15men and 3 women were serving life sentences for different crimes and had done over 30 years each, so far. The inmates were released on compassionate grounds having met all conditions for their release.
The pardoned inmates were very jubilant and thankful to the governor for his benevolence and pledged to be of good character and parade themselves as law abiding citizen as they return back to society.
