Chibok 21: an unfolding story

Among the 256 girls abducted from Chibok Government Secondary School on April 14, 2014 was a girl named Deborah Gaphani. Deborah had already finished from the government secondary school but had to return to resit her WAEC when Boko Haram struck. Deborah who was just married two weeks earlier and pregnant was taken with the other girls. She had a baby in captivity and was lucky to be among the 21 girls released last week. Deborah was released with her son.
Her father Salman Gaphani told Deborah s story during a thanksgiving organised to mark the return of the girls at Department of State Services health facility, located along the Airport Road, Abuja.
Emotions ran high as the girls and their parents came forward to recount their horrible experience. In attendance was The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, and Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Jummai Alhassan who wiped their eyes severally during the occasion.
Deborah's husband has since remarried.....
