The Ogun State Police Command has smashed a robbery/kidnap syndicate that has been terrorizing residents of Ijebu-Ode and Shagamu areas.
Arrested were three suspected members of the gang, with two pump action riffles, one double-barrelled gun, one English barrel gun and three locally-made single barrel guns. The suspects, according to the spokesperson for Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos, Muyiwa Adejobi, were apprehended by operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FEDSARS, in their hideout at Ipoji area of Shagamu. The trio of Abibu Onasanya, Kamorudeen Abdulahi and Olalekan Ogunbowale, were suspected to be preparing for an operation when the operatives, who acted on tip-off, swooped on them. Adejobi, who hinted that the suspects were undergoing interrogation, said: “The state’s Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has directed that the suspects be thoroughly investigated with a view of apprehending other members of the gang. “The CP also appealed to members of the public to always give police necessary and useful information that would assist them rid the state of crime and criminality because security is everybody’s business.”
