Crown Prince of Benin Kingdom begins coronation trek in preparation for throne ascension.

Prince Eheneden Erediauwa, the crown prince of Benin kingdom, on Saturday, began his 10km trek from Uselu to Eko-ohae.
This is part of the rites he has to fulfill to enable him ascend the throne. The crowned prince also climbed a palm tree said to be five hundred years old. The prince set out at about 3;45pm accompanied by a large crowd including High Chiefs of Benin kingdom. 
Most routes through which he will trek has been cordoned off by security officials. This event last took place in 1979 when the late king was going through the rites to ascend the throne. After completing all rites, Prince Eheneden will be crowned the 39th Oba of Benin kingdom.
